Bonifacio Information

This page provides practical information for visitors to Bonifacio such as town parking, the tourist office and how to get there (including information on Figari and other airports in Corsica).

Town Parking

There is a shortage of car parks in Bonifacio, so try to arrive early to get a space. Most of the parking is located to the left of the marina (accessed via a one-way system).

There is also limited parking on the Bosco peninsula beyond the Old Town, by the Marine Cemetery.

Rocca Croisieres boat tour company allow you to park in their car park all day if you purchase a ticket for one of their hourly boat trips. Turn left at the harbour, follow road past Spar supermarket, bear right then take the right turning signposted to Piantarella (opposite TamTam Surf shop). Car park is on the right.

Tourist Office

Bonifacio's tourist office is located at the bottom of Rue Fred-Scamorini in the Old Town. Telephone 04 95 73 11 88. Open 09:00-20:00 May to mid October and 09:00-18:00 (closed for lunch) mid October to April.

The tourist office sells a pass for 6 euros which permits entry to four of the town's historic sights/attractions. Alternatively you can buy individual tickets at the sights themselves (usually around 2.5 Euros each).

Supermarkets

There are three supermarkets near Bonifacio's marina: Spar, Coccimarket and Vival. Note that most supermarkets in Corsica close on a Sunday.

Getting There

By Plane

Bonifacio is approximately 20 km south of Figari airport (Figari-Sud Corse), with transfer options by car, taxi or bus. Note that traffic around Bonifacio can be notoriously bad in the height of summer, with the main entrance road into town becoming blocked with tourists, delaying journey times.

By Ferry

Saremar (04 95 73 00 96) and Moby Lines (04 95 73 00 29) run ferries from Sardinia (Santa Teresa di Gallura) to Bonifacio, with three or four daily crossings each. One way ticket costs approximately 17 Euros, and 40 Euros for a small car.

Corsican Airports

Flights from UK

ThomsonFly, Westernair amd RyanAir run the main charter direct flights to Figari from the UK.

ThomsonFly has reduced services to Corsica for 2010 and now only flies from London Gatwick to Figari.

Westernair fly to Figari from London Gatwick and also have flights to Bastia and Calvi.

RyanAir have introduced a new service in 2010 from London Stansted to Figari.

An alternative is to fly via Nice, Marseille, Paris or Lyon then take a connecting flight to Figari with either CCM (Air Corsica) or Air France.
