The medieval citadel of Bonifacio, teetering right on the edge of limestone cliffs, is a stunning, unique site especially when viewed from the sea. Equally as photogenic are the narrow, maze-like streets of Bonifacio Old Town, and its stunning harbour cut by a natural fjord and surrounded by mountains.

		Town Perched on the edge of a promontory overlooking the sea, Bonifacio is a photographer's dream. The ancient buildings clinging to the overhanging cliff face almost defy belief, and wandering round Bonifacio's atmospheric streets is like stepping back in time. Bonifacio's harbour is a magnet for international yachts, lured by the beauty of the natural harbour and the resort's excellent bars and restaurants along the quayside or up in the Old Town.
		Beaches There are some fantastic beaches within driving distance of Bonifacio, to suit every taste. Pianterella and Tonnara are great for windsurfing and kite surfing. Rondiniara, on the south coast of Corsica, is famous for its horseshoe-shaped crescent beach (and its cows!). At Roccapina beach on the west coast, the 'Lion of Roccapina' is an impressive weathered lump of granite shaped like a lion, overlooking a beautiful bay.
		Day Trips Suggested days out in the nearby craggy Alta Rocca region of Corsica: the eerie ancient town of Sartène, pretty mountain village of Sainte-Lucie de Tallano or prehistoric sites at Pianu di Levie. Various boat trips are on offer from Bonifacio, including excursions to the beautiful uninhabited Lavezzi islands or a trip up the coast to the sophisticated resort of Porto-Vecchio, or hop over to the Italian island of Sardinia by taking the ferry to Santa Teresa di Gallura.
