Carbini, Levi and Pianu di Levie |

The D59 passes through Carbini and its Romanesque church of Eglise St-Jean Baptiste. |

Levi is a pleasant red roofed mountain village and home to the Musee de l'Alta Rocca. |

The prehistoric Pianu di Levie consists of two sites, a short walk apart, called Curcuruzzu and Capula. |
|
|
|
|
|
The sites are located in ancient woodland off the D268 between Levi and Sainte-Lucie de Tallano. |

|
|

Excavation work is still taking place at Capula, a medieval castle built on a bronze age fortress. |

Lavezzi Islands |

The uninhabited granite islands of Lavezzi are a popular boat trip destination from Bonifacio. |

The azure coloured waters are a major attraction for divers and snorkellers. |

The islands are home to a large colony of grouper fish, the majority of which Dusky are groupers. |

Santa Teresa di Gallura |

The resort of Santa Teresa di Gallura in Sardinia is a one hour ferry trip across the Strait of Bonifacio. |

Santa Teresa di Gallura is built on a rocky promontory which separates the marina and main beach. |
|
|
|
The town is 3 km from the stunning rocky beaches at Capo Testa. These are served by buses in the summer. |

Sartene |

The ancient and atmospheric town of Sartene is often dubbed the most Corsican of Corsica's towns. |

Set high on a hill the town of Sartene overlooks the famous wine growing region of the same name. |

The Eglise Sainte-Marie was built in the 1760s. The traditional place for warring families to make peace. |

|
|
Bloody vendettas were common amongst families in 19th century Sartene. Houses often resembled fortresses. |
|
|
|
The main tree lined town square is called Place de la Liberation (previously Place Porta). |
|
|
|
There is a selection of restaurants and cafes around Sartene's town square.
